Claim Intake Coordinator Job Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: Diploma or GED required. Typically requires 6 months - 1 year office experience, or the equivalent combination of education/experience. Prior disability claims experience preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills: Applies acquired job skills and working knowledge of company policies.
- Job Complexity & Judgment: Claim Intake Coordinator Works on assignments that are semi routine. Works within defined procedures but is able to deviate from normal routine. Understands when to escalate issue if necessary.
- Independence & Supv required: Typically receives general instructions on routine work. May require detailed instructions on new assignments. Follows established procedures.
- Interaction & Influence: CClaim Intake Coordinator ontacts are typically limited to own department. Begins to build working relationships outside department.

Set up new claims for claimants or policyholders who are submitting a disability, life or absence management claim. Obtains the necessary information to complete the initial claim application then follows up with treating physician, employer and claimant so we can rapidly and accurately process their claim. Provides claimants with regular updates on the status of their claim applications and answers any questions the claimant or employer may have about the claim. Prepares all completed claims for assignment and routes them to the appropriate claim team or department.
Claim Intake Coordinator Reviews all new claims to determine what additional information is needed to complete the claim prior to submitting it to a claim team for evaluation and decision. Collects the missing information by contacting the claimant or the claimant’s treating physician, employer, beneficiary or other appropriate party. Communicates the claim’s status and follows up activities to the claimant and employer at specified intervals. Evaluates options and makes recommendations to the Supervisor or designated approver for claims that cannot be completed within the prescribed time. Ensures compliance with company and regulatory requirements regarding procedures and timeliness.
Claim Intake Coordinator Provides information and assistance to claimants, policyholders and others by promptly answering telephones and answering specific questions about the claims while they are in the Intake Center. Provide the caller with a positive customer experience.
Claim Intake Coordinator Provide administrative support to the entire Claim Intake Center. This support may include, but is not limited to, assisting with the creation of special policyholder reports, keeping policyholder information up to date, serving as the liaison with the system administrators and tracking and reconciling invoices for medical information requests.
