Claims Assistant Job Position Summary:
As a Claims Assistant you will be responsible for providing office and claims support for claims handlers or a unit. This could include basic claims processing functions such as data entry, bill payments, completion and filing of forms and scheduling of appointments. You may also interact with clients, claimants and vendors to gather necessary information and complete file tasks. In addition, Claims Assistant may be responsible for processing of Medical Only claims, including the review and authorizing of payments consistent with client requirements, company “Best Practice” and state regulations. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provides assistance and support for staff Claim and Senior Claim Representatives
- Claims Assistant Assists in ensuring the timely payment of benefits, medical and vendor bills and processing state required filings
- Performs various support and clerical functions as part of the general office operation and as directed by Manager or Supervisor
- Maintains effective and ongoing communication within the office and with outside parties
- Claims Assistant Sets up new claims, establishes and maintains proper coding and data per company and client requirements
- Maintains various claims processing and procedure records necessary to conduct business
Claims Assistant Additional Considerations:
Required:
- High school Diploma or equivalent education/degree
- 2 or more years of related claims management office experience
- Claims Assistant Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled
- Ability to effectively operate a computer, knowledge of MS Office applications, and related claims and business software
- Claims Assistant Solid knowledge of workers’ compensation, interpretation of medical records and understanding of medical terminology

Claims Assistant U.S. Eligibility Requirements:

- Claims Assistant Must be willing to submit to a background investigation; any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. For U.S. employment opportunities, Gallagher hires U.S. citizens, permanent residents, asylees, refugees, and temporary residents. Temporary residence does not include those with non-immigrant work authorization (F, J, H or L visas), such as students in practical training status. Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. Gallagher will require proof of work authorization
- Claims Assistant Must be willing to execute Gallagher’s Employee Agreement or Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement which requires, among other things, post-employment obligations relating to non-solicitation, confidentiality and non-disclosure
