Insurance Analyst Job Summary:
The Insurance Analyst, as part of the Risk Management and Insurance group of the Treasurer’s Department, is responsible for providing insurance advice and risk management services for functional groups and affiliates. Services include arranging insurance coverage for all types of insurable risks, assisting with claims for accidents and advising on insurance and indemnity conditions in contracts for procurement, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestments. The Insurance Analyst will be located in Houston, TX, and will work under the direction of a regional Insurance Coordinator.
Insurance Analyst Primary Job Functions:
- Arrange insurance solutions that are consistent with the Company’s risk management and insurance philosophy for affiliates and joint ventures
- Insurance Analyst Work with joint venture partners to ensure that insurance solutions are fit for purpose
- Ensure Company’s compliance with local laws, regulations and contractual obligations
- Recommend appropriate utilization of the Company’s wholly-owned insurance companies
- Insurance Analyst Negotiate and administer contracts with insurance brokers and other third-party service providers
- Bring market and technical knowledge to bear on affiliate insurance operations
- Apply global best practices and promote continuous improvement
- Advise affiliates on Company’s contracting principles relating to risk management
- Assist business units with the resolution of insurance claims and recoveries
- Ensure that the group’s operations are in conformance with all Company environmental, health, and safety requirements; actively support and participate in the Company’s safety, health, and environmental management systems
- Assure compliance with delegation of authority, controls, and operations integrity management standards and requirements
- Steward key performance indicators and metrics for assigned operations
- Periodically assist with internal assessment to assure compliance with controls
Insurance Analyst Job Requirements:
- Chartered Insurance Institute or similar professional designation
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business management, finance or similar discipline
- Post-graduation work experience in the insurance industry
- Proven leadership experience
- Strong analytical, communication, presentation and negotiating skills
- Working knowledge of property, casualty, marine, surety, directors & officers, and other common insurance policy forms and principles
- Willing to travel internationally ; flexible and adaptable to various working and living conditions
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Proficiency in the use of computers
- Excellent administrative and organizational competencies, with appropriate attention to details
- Proven ability to manage short deadlines and emergency situations
- Adherence to the highest ethical standards
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated risk management and insurance experience in the oil and gas sector
