Watercraft Claims Adjuster Responsibilities:
This Watercraft Claims Adjuster position will provide prompt service in the handling of Watercraft and Snowmobile claims. Will conduct thorough coverage and damage investigations. Maintain payment accuracy on these products through the regular use of marine estimating system. Watercraft Claims Adjuster Review estimates and negotiate with various repairers/vendors. Identify areas for recovery through Subrogation and Salvage. The selected candidate must be available for Catastrophe duty as needed.
Selected Watercraft Claims Adjuster candidate must attend and pass initial claims training class. In addition, they must obtain necessary adjuster licenses and continuing education to maintain those licenses.
Watercraft Claims Adjuster Qualifications:
- 1-2 years prior claims adjusting experience in identifying cause/origin, scoping, estimating, and reporting damages on various models of watercraft is required. Strong organizational, time management, and verbal/written communication skills are needed in this position.
- 5 + years of marine surveying experience and/or possessing the Merc Certification or Merc Master Certification is preferred.
The ability to analyze and resolve problems and make quality decisions is essential. Marine knowledge including ability to determine causation on damage to the Watercraft structure (hull) and/or marine mechanics (engine/propulsion systems) is preferred. A BA degree or equivalent professional education/watercraft claims experience is required. Insurance/Claims designations are preferred (i.e. – AIC, CPCU, SCLA) Watercraft/Marine designations are also preferred: SAMS and/or MERC certification.
